Welcome to the Vintage Shasta Camper Forum!
I think that the best way to provide the information about the forum is with a FAQ:
Q: What is the purpose of this forum?
A: This forum is for owners of vintage Shasta trailers to meet, share information, and learn. Our goal is to provide a friendly online community for owners of these wonderful trailers to gather and share information. We want you to have a easy time finding and providing your information.
Q: Why have this format?
A: I am aware of two different Yahoo Groups that cover vintage Shastas. I find Yahoo Group's format to be outdated and archaic. This is nothing against the owner's of those groups but of Yahoo itself. It is like finding a needle in a haystack. This forum is easier to navigate and search the information on the forum. You can provide pictures and links right along with your posts. Your new topics will not be shoved in with other topics. The Airstream Forum has much success with its format and I have modeled this after that forum. I have run similar forums in the past with much success.
Q: How do I post?
A: Anyone can view the forum. However, you must be registered to post
Q: Who can join?
A: Anyone can join the VSCF. Owning a vintage Shasta is just a plus. However, members are not required to own a trailer. There are many folks shopping for a vintage trailer and would like more information.
Q: How do I join?
A: It is easy. Click on the registration button and follow the steps the forum directs you to do. You must provide a username, password and a valid email account. Best part is it is FREE!
Q: Is my Shasta vintage?
A: That is a matter of perception. For the purposes of this forum VINTAGE is considered anything manufactured before 1980. Some would say vintage is pre-1970 but I have seen a few really cool 70's trailers that would be welcome on the VSCF. Again, you are not required to own a pre-1980 trailer or a trailer at all to be a member of this site.
Q: How do I know I will be safe here?
A: The VSCF has rules, terms and conditions in place for forum members. See the Rules, Terms and Conditions of the Vintage Shasta Camper Forum.
Q: Can I promote the VSCF on my site?
A: Yes you can! We encourage members to spread the word of the forum. The forum is only effective with a group of members to fill it. It is your duty to get other members here and participating.
Q: Can I sell my Shasta trailer or Shasta parts on the forum?
A: Yes. You may post trailers, parts, and accessories for sale in the Marketplace. Please follow the guidelines for the Marketplace.
Q: Can I list something for sale that is not mine on something like Craigslist or EBay?
A: Yes. Just indicate that you are not the owner and simply passing it along.
Q: Can I sell my something like my paintball equipment on the forum?
A: No. There are many other places to do that.
Q: I am a travel trailer parts vendor. Can I sell my products on here?
A: Yes and no. Make sure that the products are useable for or with a vintage Shasta trailer. You can provide information about a sale or new product that you have to offer.
However, vendors are discouraged to fill the Marketplace with their products. That is why you have your own website.
Q: Can I post pictures and information about my restoration?
A: Yes. If you would like to share an ongoing restoration and post progress pictures and information you may do that in the Shasta Owner's Restorations section. If you are not doing an ongoing restoration and would like to post information about a specific area you may do that in one of the corresponding sections of the forum.
Q: What can I post question about?
A: Anything regarding your vintage Shasta. Please place the topic in one of the related sections of the forum. If it is placed in the wrong section the VSCF Administrator may move your topic to the appropriate section.
Q: Can I suggest a new section?
A: Yes. You can visit the Forum Feedback section and request a change or a new section. Your request will be evaluated if it benefits the forum.
Q: Why isn't there a off-topic section?
A: Simple answer is that the internet is filled with areas to talk about everything under the sun. We would like this forum to stay on the topic of vintage Shastas.
This should answers many questions about this site. It is our hope that that everyone enjoys their time here and that the VSCF grows to become the place to be for information and resources regarding our beloved vintage Shastas. This can only be accomplished with your help and support!
Enjoy, share, learn, and have fun!
