Hello Everyone,
I bought my first Vintage trailer on May 4, 2013. I thought I bought a 1966 Shasta Compact but after several Forum Members at Vintage Shasta Trailer Forum saw my pics and I found the real VIN number and compared it to the database it's with some certainty that we believe I have a 1969 Shasta Compact, the VIN is P 147XX. At this point I don't think I have the fortitude to approach DMV to make the correction, maybe when I'm really really bored and don't have anything else to do.
I live right outside Richmond, VA. Looking thru some of the posts here on the website I've found a couple other folks from Virgina, if you are too, drop me a PM. All the messages and pictures here on the Forum are great, but sometimes it would be nice to see what others have done with their trailers in person.
If you look down at the bottom of my posts you'll see the PhotoBucket link I have to pictures of my 1969 Shasta Compact, but here it is the link too: www.flickr.com/photos/76414454@N04/sets/72157633457453038/
I hope you are having as much fun with your Shasta as I am.
Regards, Doug
PS I came over from Vintage Shasta Trailer Forum....

Hi Doug, I just purchased a 68 compact. Can't wait to get her camping & renovating. I live in SC but plan to do some frequent camping near the NC - VA line. Any campground recommendations? Heidi

Virginia has many great State parks, I've been in a few in NC as well I just don't like locked Gates at night, But I do understand why. Been in a few in SC years ago so hopefully someone will give you some updates. I used to like KOA...there just to expensive for my Wallet. sparky1 in southern va, here's a shot of my place.

Heidi Heidi, It's great to hear from you. It's been years since I've done any real camping, so I'm reluctant to offer up any real suggestions. However, there was a really nice place, if memory serves me right, on Bugs Island Lake, within sight of the dam, Kerr Damn. It was on the Virginia side of the lake. I'm sure you can Google it and see if it's still there and what it looks like now. They had a bunch of campsites feet from the water. Now that I'm talking about it, I might have to go on down myself. If I find the website I'll pass it along. With Best Regards, Doug

Sparky, I'm with you, Virginia has a lot of great State Parks. A friend of mine on Facebook was at North Anna State Park this past weekend and from some of her pictures it looked really nice, I've already decided I'm going to make it one of my destinations this summer. It's probably too far into the interior of Virginia for Heidi. As I was telling her, I might have to run down to Bugs Island Lake during the week once this summer too. I liked your picture, thanks for sharing. Looks like a great place to retire to. Regards, Doug
